Dents on the Carpets
Dents on the Carpets
It is likely that your furniture can cause damage to the carpet under it. It is possible that you will find a different colour carpet, which can make it appear like newer carpet.
There are many options to clean dents from your carpet. But the most important thing is to avoid further damaging the carpet.
- It is important to move furniture regularly. Keeping carpet dents at bay is the best thing to do. Moving your furniture every couple of months will ensure that it is not sitting in the same spot for too long, causing permanent damage. Carpet will bounce back if indentions are not left untreated for too long.
- Make your feet bigger. Spreading furniture weight over a larger surface is another way to avoid dents. If you place larger furniture pieces or furniture disks underneath your feet, the dents will recede less quickly and be easier to fix. This works well on couches and beds with the feet not visible. The discs will look strange on tables and chairs.
- Cold. If the dust has set, then place an ice pack in the area and allow it to melt for about two hours. To absorb excess water, place a towel on the carpet. Then use a spoon or a sponge to clean the carpet. When you are trying to fluff the carpet, make sure not to damage it. You should also remember to remove any ice or water from the carpet.
- Heat. If cold didn't work then heat it. A damp towel can be used to cover the dent. The steam will help loosen fibers. You can then fluff it with a spoon just like with the Ice. Avoid using a hot iron directly onto the carpet. Don't burn the carpet by too close contact with the blow dryer. Fluffing carpet is a good way to ensure that the fibers are not damaged.
Sometimes professional steam cleaning and carpet repairs are the only way to get the dents to rise again. The difference in carpet color is caused by grime and fading. It must be professionally cleaned to get it looking like new.
